Create Tasks

Tasks are listed in the Tasks page. Whether you can view, edit, or create tasks depends on the roles you are assigned and the permissions associated with each task. Although the different task types have different user experiences, the first steps for creating any task are the same. You can create a task from one of these locations:

  • the Tasks page
  • a scheduled journey
  • a real-time journey
TipA task can be added to a journey after the task is created.

To begin creating a task from the Tasks page, follow these steps:

  1. On the navigation bar, click Tasks.
  2. Click Create Task.
  3. Select the task type and enter the details. The content required to create a task varies by task type. For more information, see Types of Tasks.
TipYou can enter a term in the Search icon Filter field to reduce the number of tasks that are displayed.

When you create a task, it has a Designing status, which indicates that the task is being worked on and is not ready to be published or activated. Where applicable, approvals must be completed before a task can be made active. A task cannot be published or activated until all of the dependencies are met. For example, a task cannot be published or activated if a creative that is uses is still in the Designing status.

IMPORTANT If you are using an on-premises task other than a direct marketing task, you must regularly upload subject IDs into datahub and synchronize the IDs with your on-premises database. The mapping between on-premises subject IDs and datahub IDs is required for targeting to succeed. If a subject ID that is in a segment targeted by a task does not match a datahub ID, it is excluded from the targeting list.
