Configure the Google Ads Task
- On the navigation bar, click
Tasks.
- Click
.
- Click Google Ads.
- Select a connector that is associated with the account that you want to use.
- Select the source type for the task. The
source type determines what data items can be selected for attribute matching and
targeting.
Note:
- If you select SAS 360 Direct as the source type, you also need to select a business context for the task.
- If you select Audience as the source type, you also need to select the audience to use with the task.
- If you select Scheduled Journey as the source type, task targeting is defined in the scheduled journey to which this task is added. Task scheduling and task execution are also managed by that scheduled journey.
- Click Create Task.
- In the Google Ads Audience section, click New Audience to create a Google Ads audience. Click Existing Audience to select a Google Ads audience that was created previously.
- In the Match Criteria and
Customer Attributes section, click Add
to select a match criterion and to assign a customer data attribute that matches
your audience data with the customer data on the Google Ads platform. For more information, see Managing Data Integration.
While creating the task, if you select Scheduled Journey as the source type and you select a match criterion, the corresponding journey placeholder attribute is automatically populated.
- If you have not already signed in,
when you create or refresh an audience the application prompts you to sign in by
using your Google account credentials to access your Google Ads account. Select
the appropriate Google account that you want to use and enter your user name and
password.
Note: To sign in to your Google account, enable the option in your browser settings to allow pop-ups in the application.TipTo perform single sign-on authentication, navigate to Settings from your user profile and select Integrations Single Sign-On , which is located below the SAS Customer Intelligence 360 section.
- To add criteria, hover over the
Targeting section and click
Edit. You can set criteria that define your target
audience. For more information, see Adding a Target Audience.
While creating the task, if you selected Scheduled Journey as the source type, the target audience is defined in the scheduled journey that adds this task. For more information, see About Scheduled Journeys.
- To add properties, hover over the Properties section and click Edit. Add standard properties to your task, such as a name, description, and code. You can also add any custom properties available for your organization. For more information, see Add Properties to Your Task.
- To customize permissions for this task,
click
and click Permissions. Customize permissions if you want to define which users and groups have access to view or edit the task.
Note: Your administrator might have enabled default permissions. A user with role-based capabilities can click Edit and change the default permissions.For more information, see Customize Task Permissions.
- To access scheduling options for this
task, hover over the Send Options section and click
Edit.

While creating the task, if you selected Scheduled Journey as the source type, task scheduling and task execution are managed by the scheduled journey that adds this task. For more information, see About Scheduled Journeys.
When you save the schedule, the application prompts you to sign in with your account credentials if access to your advertising account not already authenticated. Select the appropriate advertising account that you want to use and enter your user name and password.
Note: To sign in to your advertising account, enable the option in your browser settings to allow pop-ups in the application.TipTo perform single sign-on authentication, navigate to Settings from your user profile and select Integrations Single Sign-On, which is located below the SAS Customer Intelligence 360 section. - If the Status
section of the task has an Approval status option, submit
the task for approval before it can be activated. To submit it, click
and click Submit for approval.

- To add a
primary metric to measure the success of the task, hover over the
Metrics section and click
Edit.
Set a primary metric by editing the default primary metric or by adding a different one. Primary metrics are defined by criteria such as data views and events.
Add secondary metrics to measure other benchmarks that you are interested in. A task can have multiple secondary metrics. However, each secondary metric can have only one data view or event.
