Batch Execution

Batch Mode Options: Usage

The following command executes the docMM1 example model in batch mode. (For more information about the docMM1 example, see the section A Simple M/M/1 Queueing Model)

simstudio_batch -m projects/examples/docMM1/model1.simmdl
-e projects/examples/docMM1/experiment0.simexp
-locdfp C:/Users/<userid>/SASSimulationStudio/15.1 -nonparallel

Because the arguments to -m and -e are provided as relative paths, -locdfp is also required. The resulting file paths to the model and experiment files are (-locdfp + -m) and (-locdfp + -e) respectively. Therefore, in this example, the resulting file path for the model file is as follows:

C:/Users/<userid>/SASSimulationStudio/15.1/projects/examples/
docMM1/model1.simmdl

The resulting file path for the experiment file is as follows:

C:/Users/<userid>/SASSimulationStudio/15.1/projects/examples/
docMM1/experiment0.simexp

The following commands are alternative ways to use the batch mode command to execute docMM1:

simstudio_batch -m C:/Users/<userid>/SASSimulationStudio/15.1/
projects/examples/docMM1/model1.simmdl -e C:/Users/<userid>/
SASSimulationStudio/15.1/projects/examples/docMM1/experiment0.simexp
-nonparallel
simstudio_batch -m projects/examples/docMM1/model1.simmdl
-e C:/Users/<userid>/SASSimulationStudio/15.1/projects/examples/
docMM1/experiment0.simexp -locdfp C:/Users/<userid>/SASSimulationStudio/
15.1 -nonparallel
simstudio_batch -m C:/Users/<userid>/SASSimulationStudio/
15.1/projects/examples/docMM1/model1.simmdl -e projects/examples/
docMM1/experiment0.simexp -locdfp C:/Users/<userid>/SASSimulationStudio/
15.1 -nonparallel

Based on their function, the various batch mode options can be broadly classified into the following categories, which are illustrated in the Venn diagram in Figure 14.1:

  • options related to the SAS Workspace Server connection

  • options related to execution and data input or output

  • options related to parallel mode execution
