You can search for an item in one of these ways:
- Enter a search term and either click
or press ENTER.
- Click
to access advanced filter options.
- Save a filter. By default, there are no
saved filters and the list is set to No filter.
Note: Not all items support saved filters.
Supported Operators
These operators are supported:
- plus (+) sign. Place the + operator before a term to designate it as required in the search results. For example, entering 2017 +2018 returns any item that contains 2018 and might also contain 2017. Items that contain both 2017 and 2018 are returned in the search results and are ranked higher than items without 2017.
- minus (–) sign. Place the – operator before a term to exclude it from the search results. For example, entering +2017 –2018 returns any item that contains only 2017. Any items that also contain 2018 are excluded.
- asterisk (*) as a wildcard.
- quotation marks. To see search results that include only the search terms exactly as you entered them, add quotation marks around the terms.
Considerations for Searching
Here are some considerations for searching:
- You can use any character in a term.
- Search terms are not case sensitive.
- If you include an operator as part of the search term, prefix it with a backslash (\) character. The backslash prefix prevents these characters from being interpreted as operators. If you try to use the backslash prefix with a character that is not one of the operators listed earlier, this action is considered an error.
- By default, search results are sorted by relevance. You can change the sort order so that results are sorted by title or date instead.
- You can also filter search results by type, by the person who last modified the item, or by date modified.
- Search results are not ranked by the number of matches in an item.
- Append a percent sign (%) at the end
of a search string to find words that begin with that string. For example, to
list all of the objects that contain the word
customer, entercust%in the search field. - The search function evaluates an
underscore (_) as part of a string. For example, to include the string
“first_task” in the results, enter
first%in the search field. - You can search for a parent item, such as an on-premises segment map or a cloud segment. However, you cannot filter for the child row, such as a segment in an on-premises segment map.
Create a Re-usable Custom Filter
Instead of re-creating the same filter multiple times, you can save it as a re-usable custom filter. Custom filters are added to the saved filters list and can be applied at any time. However, custom filters are available only from the page where they are created. For example, if you create a custom filter for tasks, that filter is not available for segments.
To create a filter:
- On the page that contains the list of
items (such as tasks), click
to display the Advanced Filter pane.
Note: If a Folders tab is in focus, click the Filters tab. - Select the categories that you want to
use to refine the list of items that are displayed. Text that is entered into
the
Filter field is not included as criteria for the saved filter.
Note: In some cases, the criteria that you select are the only criteria that remain visible after you select criteria from other groups. Here is an example:- On the navigation bar, expand the Content section and click Creatives. Begin a search by navigating to the Filters tab.
- You select these two options from the Type group: HTML and Text. Any deselected options in the Type group remain visible.
- From the Status group, you select the Active option. At this point, the only options that are visible in the Type group are the ones that were previously selected (the HTML and Text options).
- To view all of the options in the Type group again so that you can select an additional option, clear all of the selections from the Status group.
- Click
New Filter to save your custom filter.
Note: In some cases, you cannot make a filter less restrictive after it is saved. However, you can further refine the filter by editing it. Some items (for example, creatives and messages) support removing filter criteria from existing filters. - Enter a name and description for your filter.
- Click Create
to save the filter and apply it.
Note: After a filter is applied, you cannot clear options from it, although you can further refine it.
You know a filter is applied when the filter name appears in the filter list and the filter criteria are listed above the items list. Here is an example of a tasks filter that shows triggered email and push notification tasks with a status of Ready:

Toggle Filters
You can have more than one saved filter. To toggle between them, select the filter in the saved filters list.
Add Criteria to an Existing Custom Filter
You can further refine an existing filter by selecting additional criteria from the available options. However, you cannot remove criteria from a filter to expand the list and display more items. If you need a filter that displays more items than the saved filter that you are working with, create a filter.
To add criteria:
- From the saved filter list, select the filter that you want to edit.
- Click
to display the Advanced Filter pane.
- Select the criteria that you want to add to your filter.
- Select
Save Filter from the actions menu for the saved filter.
- (Optional) Update the name or description of the filter.
- Click Save.
Rename a Custom Filter
To update the name or description of the filter:
- From the saved filter list, select the filter that contains the properties that you want to edit.
- Click
to display the Advanced Filter pane.
- Select
Save Filter from the actions menu for the saved filter.
- Update the name or description of the filter.
- Click Save.
Delete a Custom Filter
To delete a filter, expand the list of saved
filters, and then click next to the filter that you want to delete.
