Migration Types

To migrate from SAS 9.4, you must use content migration.

To migrate from SAS Viya 3.x, you can use either content migration or full-system migration.

To migrate from one SAS Viya platform environment to another, you can use content migration or full-system migration.

Use SAS Content Assessment to inventory and profile your content. It reports what content is on your SAS 9.4 system.

Determine what content can be migrated to the SAS Viya platform.

Export SAS 9 content.

Import content. You can use SAS Environment Manager or a command-line interface.

Determine what content can be migrated.

Export content.

Import content. You can use SAS Environment Manager or a command-line interface.

Back up the SAS Viya platform source.

Create the target SAS Viya 4 environment.

Restore into this new environment.

Validate the migration.

Determine what content can be migrated.

Export content.

Import content. You can use SAS Environment Manager or a command-line interface.

Back up the SAS Viya platform source.

Restore the backup into the new environment.

Validate the migration.
