The CESM Procedure
Details: CESM Procedure
You can use the CESM procedure to forecast both time series data and transactional data. If the data are transactional, then the procedure must first accumulate the data into a time series before it can forecast them. Table 2 shows the sequential steps that the procedure uses to produce forecasts; the options that control each step and the statements where those options can be specified are shown in the third and fourth columns, respectively.
Table 2: CESM Processing Steps and Control Options
| Step | Operation | Option | Statements |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Accumulation | ACCUMULATE= | ID, FORECAST |
| 2 | Missing value interpretation | SETMISSING= | ID, FORECAST |
| 3 | Transformations | TRANSFORM= | FORECAST |
| 4 | Parameter estimation | METHOD= | FORECAST |
| 5 | Forecasting | METHOD=, LEAD= | FORECAST |
| 6 | Inverse transformation | TRANSFORM, MEDIAN | FORECAST |
Each of the steps shown in Table 2 is described in the following sections.
