SEVSELECT Procedure

A BY statement can be used in the SEVSELECT procedure to process the input data table in groups of observations defined by the BY variables.

If you specify the BY statement, PROC SEVSELECT does not need the input data table to be sorted in the order of the BY variables. As a consequence, the NOTSORTED and DESCENDING options have no effect and PROC SEVSELECT ignores them.
