SASEUSCB Interface Engine

Syntax: SASEUSCB Interface Engine

The SASEUSCB interface engine uses standard engine syntax to read the observations or data values for one or more economic time series. Table 1 summarizes the options that the interface engine uses. Two options are required: USER='uscb_apikey' and SETNAME='uscb_input_dataset_name'.

Table 1: Summary of LIBNAME libref SASEUSCB Options

Option Description
CASLIB= Specifies the name of the caslib where the in-memory CAS table containing the USCB data is stored
CASOUT= Specifies the name of the in-memory CAS table, which contains the data that the SASEUSCB interface engine retrieves
CATEGORY= Specifies the name of a category which is used to keep or select the desired variables based on their category
CONNECT= Specifies whether or not to use the connect method for a secure connection via a proxy server. You must specify the PROXY= option when you use the CONNECT=ON option.
DATATYPE= Specifies the name of the data type of the variables to keep
DEBUG= Specifies whether or not to use diagnostic message logging in the SAS log window
ENDDATE= Specifies the ending date for the observation period
FOR= Specifies the demographic category that you want to retrieve data for
FORMAT= Specifies a file extension that indicates the type of file to retrieve. Only the JSON format is supported.
GEO= Specifies the geographic region (or geo-level) of the data that you want to retrieve: ‘US’ for United States, ‘NE’ for Northeast, ‘MW’ for Midwest, ‘SO’ for South, ‘WE’ for West. For US states, some data sets let you use the standard two-letter postal codes, such as AL for Alabama. For the complete list of geo-level codes, see Table 2.
GOCAS= Specifies whether to generate an in-memory CAS table for the USCB data
OUTJSON= Specifies the name of the output SAS data set and the JSON file for the retrieved data
PROXY= Specifies the proxy server that you want to use (if you have trouble connecting without specifying a proxy). If you also need the connect method for a secure connection, specify the CONNECT=ON option in addition to the PROXY= option. (See the CONNECT= option.)
SETNAME= Specifies the name of the data set that you want to access; see Table 3.
STARTDATE= Specifies the starting date for the observation period
USER= Specifies the required USCB registration key that enables you to access data on the USCB website
