Create an Asset

To create an asset:

  1. On the navigation bar, click Content Contentthen selectAssets.
  2. On the top menu bar, click Upload and select Upload one new asset
  3. In the Standard properties section, enter this information:
    • Enter a Name for the asset. If you do not enter a name, a default name or the name of the original file is applied. Do not use / or \ in the name.
    • Enter a Description for the asset.
    • Click Browse to select the original file to upload. You can save the asset without uploading a file and add the file later. A file size of 20 MB is supported for a single asset.
Note: It is recommended that you upload only clean files. Files that you upload are scanned for malicious content such as viruses. Potentially harmful files are not uploaded.
    • (Optional) Select the Generate custom renditions check box to generate custom renditions for the asset. You can generate custom renditions that are specified in a configuration file. For custom renditions, the supported source file types are .tiff, .jpeg, .jpg, .bmp, .gif, .png, .dng, and .wpg. The resulting file types that are supported are .tiff, .jpeg, .jpg, .bmp, .gif, .png, .pict, and .sgi. For more information, see Create a Version.
    • Click Browse to a destination folder to select the appropriate location for the asset. The folder that you are currently in is the default location for the asset.
    • Add a tag or search tags in the Tags field. To find an existing tag, click Select tags and select a tag from the available tags. The tags are listed in the order in which they were added. To add a new tag, type the text and press ENTER on your keyboard to commit the tag and include it in the list of available tags. Applying a tag to an asset enables you to collect information about how that asset is used and how often. For more information, see About Tags in SAS Customer Intelligence 360: Administration Guide.
    • Click Select a date to select an expiration date for the asset.

If you set expiration dates for assets, you can identify expired assets by prominent visual indicators in asset lists and open assets. Most asset operations, such as downloading files or viewing previews, are disabled for expired assets. You can filter asset lists by the expiration status. Filtering enables you to easily generate a list of all expired assets, a list of active assets, or a list of assets with missing metadata. You can reactivate an expired asset by modifying the asset expiration date.

Note: If you modify the expiration date, you must save the asset before you complete any additional actions on the asset.
    • To enable the asset to be publicly shared with an external audience, activate the Enable external sharing on upload of assets switch.
      Note:
      • All assets that you upload are either enabled or disabled for external sharing by default, depending on the setting that is specified in the assets configuration. At the time of upload, you can override the default setting by using the toggle switch to enable or disable one or more assets. For more information, see Configure External Sharing in SAS Customer Intelligence 360: Administration Guide.
      • If an error occurs and the system fails to generate the external URL for the asset, in the Job Information window, click Error Status to view the reason for the failure.
  4. (Optional) Select a Category for the asset.
  5. In the Custom properties section, enter or view information for your custom properties. For more information, see Custom Properties.
Note: If you do not specify valid values for the required fields in the Custom properties section, the asset status displays the value Missing Metadata.
  6. Click Save. The job information window displays the progress. A preview and thumbnail are generated as supported formats. If no errors are displayed, click Close. The asset is successfully uploaded.
TipFor a video asset, you can upload the video file in a supported format. Automatic generation of preview and thumbnail renditions is not supported for video assets. To manually add preview and thumbnail renditions, click the Renditions tab. Click Replace and upload a file with a supported format. To add a custom rendition, click Add.
