PARTITION Procedure

Overview: PARTITION Procedure

The PARTITION procedure performs sampling in SAS Viya Workbench. It performs simple random sampling, stratified sampling, oversampling, or k-fold partitioning to produce a table that contains a subset of the observations or that contains partitioned observations.

The PARTITION procedure creates the following:

  • one output data table, which contains the subset or partitioned data table

  • one summary table, which contains the numbers of observations and variables in the output data table

  • one frequency table, which contains the frequency information for the population and sample or for each fold for k-fold partitioning

  • one partition indicator map table, which contains the mapping of each partition indicator to each target. This table is created when the TARGET statement is specified.

  • one sample frequency map table, which contains the mapping of each sample frequency to each target. This table is created when both the TARGET statement and the FREQ statement are specified.
