Test Whether an Utterance Should Be Added

Before adding an utterance to an intent, you can test whether adding the utterance would be helpful.

Perform the following steps to test whether adding an utterance to an intent would be helpful:

1. Click in the menu.

   The Try It Now window appears.

2. Click the Utterance tab.
3. Enter the test utterance in the Enter an utterance text field.
   Note: Alternatively, click , and then speak the utterance. Your words are transcribed into text and appear in the Enter an utterance text field. When you finish speaking, your transcribed utterance is submitted.
4. Press Enter on your keyboard to submit the utterance as a test.
   Note: Alternatively, click .

   If the correct intent appears below the text box, then the bot is already correctly processing the test utterance, and the test utterance does not need to be added to your domain. Adding unnecessary utterances can actually degrade the matching ability of a bot. However, if an intent is not found for the test utterance, it might be useful to add the test utterance to the desired intent, and specify entities.
