About the SAS Viya Administration Documentation

Note: The documents in this collection primarily pertain to SAS Viya on native Linux operating systems. For information specific to SAS Viya on Cloud Foundry, see SAS Viya for Cloud Foundry: Operations.

This collection of documents helps you administer the SAS Viya platform and the following products on that platform:

Note: Some of the other products on the SAS Viya platform supplement this collection with their own administrative information, which is available in their solution-specific collection of documents.

Note: The administration documentation picks up where the deployment guides end. As a convenience, the deployment guide for the preceding products is included in this collection.

Tip

There are situations where you can view this document in a stand-alone context that is outside of the document collection. (One indication of a stand-alone context is that you see only Orientation in the left navigation pane.) Deployment Types

Some SAS Viya administrative tasks and tools vary by deployment type. Here is a brief description of each type:

Deployment Type	Description
Full	Includes all of the software to which you are entitled. This is the default type of deployment.
Programming-only	Excludes SAS Home, most graphical user interfaces, and most services. This is the simplest and smallest type of deployment. Note: If SAS Home is available (at your equivalent of http://host/SASHome), you do not have a programming-only deployment.
Visual-only	Excludes SAS Studio and SAS Foundation. This is the least common type of deployment. Note: If SAS Studio is available (at your equivalent of http://host/SASStudio), you do not have a visual-only deployment. Note: Visual-only deployments are possible on native operating systems such as Linux, but not on Cloud Foundry.

Includes all of the software to which you are entitled. This is the default type of deployment.

Programming-only

Excludes SAS Home, most graphical user interfaces, and most services. This is the simplest and smallest type of deployment.

Visual-only

Excludes SAS Studio and SAS Foundation. This is the least common type of deployment.

Note: The narrower deployment types (programming-only and visual-only) are a convenience for sites that choose to install and use only a subset of the software. The narrower deployment types do not correspond to a limitation in software licensing or entitlement.
