Initial Tasks

Task

Description

1.

Give yourself (and other users) administrative privileges.

As a CAS Administrator (Superuser), you can perform all tasks in CAS Server Monitor while logged in as yourself. Reserve the server process owner account for use if you lock yourself out.

2.

Remind users to automatically connect and generate librefs.

Users can configure SAS Studio to automatically start a CAS session and generate SAS librefs for existing caslibs.

3.

Add global caslibs.

Data in global caslibs is persistent and sharable.

4.

Migrate legacy SAS data.

If you have existing SAS 9.4 data, use SAS/CONNECT to migrate that data into the SAS Viya platform.

5.

Migrate existing user-defined formats.

Migrate your site’s existing user-defined format catalogs to a CAS session.

6.

Create a backup.

Backups do not occur automatically. If you have a backup, you can restore administrative assignments, caslib definitions, access controls, and configuration files if needed.
